Massage Modalities

massageflowerTherapeutic massage is customized to your individual needs.  An array of techniques may be used to increase circulation and promote the removal of toxins from your body. Oils or lotions are applied to the skin, providing exfoliation and moisturizing. In addition to the intense relaxation you will experience,  massage also has the following general benefits:

*helps muscles recover more quickly from exertion, fatigue or injury
*improves joint movement and helps to reduce swelling
*lowers blood pressure and heart rate
*causes the release of endorphins and our body’s own natural pain killers
*helps to calm, focus, and clear the mind

Swedish/Cayce Reilly Massage:

Swedish massage is the original & most popular type of massage. The Cayce Reilly technique is a unique method designed to improve circulation, stimulate nerve function and promote self healing through a balancing of the sympathetic nervous system.
As no two individuals are alike, a massage combining sequential movements to soothe the superficial tissues and provide deeper relaxation will be tailored to your needs. A restorative massage that is beneficial to all.

Deep Tissue Massage:

This is particularly effective if you have significant problem areas of painful, tight or knotted muscles.  This is a more intense massage experience, as deeper pressure will be applied to release tension in the body.

Acupressure

Somewhat related to acupuncture, but performed without needles, acupressure is based on oriental concepts of our energy pathways, called meridians.  Gentle, direct finger pressure on specific release points has an amazing soothing effect on the body, and can relieve tension & pain by restoring harmony between the body & mind. Particularly effective for stress, fatigue, insomnia, headache, neck pain, digestive system & cramping.

Clinical Bodywork:

Often prescribed for painful conditions and injuries, this includes highly effective neuromuscular techniques, including myofascial release and trigger point therapy.  The gentle stretching of connective tissue and direct, deeper massage of areas of accumulated stress can increase motion, flexibility, and relieve acute or chronic pain. The session includes a full assessment and development of a treatment plan that addresses the major causes of pain. This type of massage can be used to help with conditions such as fibromyalgia, chronic pain, post-surgical pain, tendonitis, and carpal tunnel syndrome.

Reflexology

Our feet support us all day, every day…is it any wonder they ache or respond so much to touch?  An extremely rejuvenating experience, areas of your feet which correspond to body tissues and organs will be gently manipulated and soothed to restore vital energy.

Hot Stone Therapy

The weight, warmth and rhythmic flow of specialized hot stones gently melt away the knots and stresses from your body.  This is a deeply relaxing full body massage that includes the use of infused towels and stones selected for your specific needs, strategically placed on your body—even tiny stones between your fingers.

Aromatherapy

The use of plant oils for the health-boosting effects is an ancient art, reported to be at least 6,000 years old. Enhance your massage experience by incorporating one or more essential oils in a way that can positively affect emotional, mental and physical health.  Several scents and combinations are available.

Signature Treatments

Promote detoxification and skin health by selecting a unique scrub or body masque treatment—using special blends of Ayurvedic oils and herbs to restore your natural balance. Signature treatments are available to soothe sensitive body skin, detoxify, moisturize, stimulate, and fight aging with antioxidants.
